History
Jim Corbet’s Ace Hardware has been part of the Larkspur community since 1954, when Jim Corbet first opened the doors at 1155 Magnolia Avenue. For more than five decades, the store became a trusted place where neighbors could find the tools, advice, and friendly service they needed.
In 2008, after 54 years in the original building, the Corbet family moved the store to its current home at 800 Magnolia Avenue, where it has continued to grow while keeping its small-town feel. For over 70 years, generations of families have turned to Corbet’s for help with everything from small household fixes to big projects.
A New Chapter
In September 2025, after decades of leadership, Bruce and Kathy Corbet retired and passed the torch to another local family, Chet and Bernadette Sullivan.
Chet is a local contractor who knows tools inside and out and has years of experience helping people fix and build. Bernadette spent much of her career working in Sacramento for the State Legislature before stepping away to focus on raising their young family. Together, they bring both hands-on know-how and a passion for community service to the store.
Looking Ahead
As a family that lives nearby and has children attending school here in town, the Sullivans are proud to be active members of the community. You’ll see them at school drop-off, in the park, and around town, because this is home.
They’ve chosen to keep the name Jim Corbet’s Ace Hardware as a tribute to its heritage, while also looking toward the future. Their vision is to preserve the neighborly, personal service that has always defined Corbet’s, while adding new products, services, and conveniences to meet the needs of today’s community.
“This store has always been about more than hardware — it’s about being part of the neighborhood. We’re honored to continue that tradition and excited for what’s ahead.”
